Geelan Earns First Team All-GPAC Accolade PDF Print E-mail

(Sioux City, IA) BCU junior Matt Geelan has been named a first team all-Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball selection for the 2009-10 season. Geelan, who averaged 11.4 ppg, led the Chargers in field goal percentage (59.4), rebounding (7.2 rpg) and assists (176). He finished first in the league in assist/turnover ratio, second in the conference in field goal percentage, third in assists and seventh in rebounding.

Juniors Kyle Semprini and Chase Vander Feen were each dubbed second team selections after they each averaged 14.5 ppg this past season. Semprini knocked down a school record 103 three-pointers and collected a team-high 37 steals. Vander Feen finished the season with 81 threes and a team-best free throw percentage of 85.2 percent. Last season, Geelan earned honorable mention honors, while Semprini was a first team selection and Vander Feen was named second team all-GPAC.

The Chargers finished the 2009-10 season with a record of 23-9. They were 12-6 in conference play and finished fifth in the GPAC standings. Their season came to a close with a 73-55 GPAC semifinal loss at NAIA No. 7 Dakota Wesleyan, Feb. 27.
