(Storm Lake, IA) After securing All-American status Friday night, Buena Vista freshman Austin Mogg didn't stop there, as he closed out his first career trip to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships with a fifth place finish on Saturday afternoon. Mogg carried his late-day momentum from Friday into his first match on Saturday as he recored a third period pin over Merchant Maine's Jordan Alfaro. He then looked to gain a spot in the third-place bout with a win in his second match, but his bid came up short as he fell 9-6 to fourth-seed Jake Oster of Elmhurst. The Reno, Okla., native was facing a familiar foe in his final match, Luther's Jayson Swanson, whom he topped 5-3 at the IIAC Duals, and he made quick work of the Iowa Conference foe, pinning him in 2:06, his ninth fall of the year. Mogg's finish is the highest for BVU since Aaron Cook placed fourth in 2008 and the freshman also closes the season with an overall mark of 36-10.
