(ELMHURST, IL) Three South Dakota State men's basketball earned all-Summit League honors for their performance during the 2009-10 season. Clint Sargent earned second-team honors, Kai Williams earned honorable mention honors and Nate Wolters earned a place on the all-newcomer team. A junior from South Sioux City, Neb., and the newest member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club, Sargent reached the 1,000 point milestone in the Jacks 66-52 win over Western Illinois last week. Sargent led the Jackrabbits with 13.1 points per game during the season and also led the team with a 42.2 three-point field goal percentage. Sargent enters The Summit League Championships ranked 34th on the all-time scoring charts at SDSU with 1,032 points. A senior from Regina, Saskatchewan, Williams led the Jackrabbits in rebounding in each of his four seasons on the team and enters the tournament with 836 rebounds, one shy of tying Lee Colburn (1970-73) for second all-time at SDSU. In addition to his rebounding, Williams led the Jacks in scoring in each of his first two seasons on the team and enters the weekend ranked third this year on the team with 10.9 points per game. He also enters the weekend ranked seventh on the all-time scoring charts with 1,406 career points. A true freshman from St. Cloud, Minn., Wolters made an immediate impact on the Jackrabbits, starting his first eight games in college. In total, Wolters played in all 29 games this season with 11 starts and leads the Jacks in assists, free throws attempted and free throws made. On Jan. 7, 2010, Wolters tied an SDSU single-game free throw percentage record by going 12-for-12 from the free throw line at UMKC. The record, first set by Jim Sutton in a win over St. Thomas on Dec. 17, 1956, also ties the mark set by Jackrabbit senior Garrett Callahan, who did it against Southern Utah on Feb. 12, 2009.
