(Wayne, NE) Brian Metz of Wayne State College was selected Thursday to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII College Division Men’s Basketball Second Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VII represents schools in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. It is the second straight season that Metz has received Second Team All-District honors.

Metz, a 6-8 senior center from Keswick, Iowa (Tri-County HS), carries a 3.93 grade point average majoring in Business Management at WSC. On the basketball court, Metz is averaging 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and ranks second in the NSIC in field goal percentage, making 64 percent of his shots (68 of 106) from the field. Last season, Metz was a Second Team All-NSIC selection averaging 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and ranked sixth in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage, making 142 of 210 shots for 67.6 percent.

Wayne State College is a NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska and competes in the 14 team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Wildcats are 9-11 overall and 6-7 in the NSIC entering Saturday’s 6 p.m. home game against 25th ranked Augustana College.
