(Sioux City, IA) Buena Vista senior Margo Muhlbauer has been recognized by the Iowa Conference for her play on the court last week by being named the IIAC Female Athlete of the Week, for the period ending January 31. It is the third time this season she has earned such accolades.

Muhlbauer turned in a career-high 39 points in a road win at Central Jan. 27, tying the fourth-highest total in Division III this season. She also pulled down eight rebounds against the Dutch. Muhlbauer capped her week with a game-high 21 points in a win at Luther Jan. 30.

For the season, she's now upped her league-leading scoring average to 23.1 points per game and has moved to within 64 points of matching her career-best for a single-season (526) which she set as a junior. For her career, she has now tallied 1,925 points.

Muhlbauer and the rest of the Beavers are now 12-8 overall (6-5 IIAC) and will return to action on Saturday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off with visiting Loras College inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.

Muhlbauer has received additional recognition for her play last week by landing a spot on this week's D3hoops.com Team of the Week. It's the second time this season that she has earned the honor, as she last did so in the first week of the season.

Muhlbauer scored a career-high 39 points in a win at Central last Wednesday and turned in a game-high 21 points in a win at Luther on Saturday. For the week, she shot 23-for-43 from the floor, 13-for-13 from the line and averaged six rebounds. The IIAC's leading scorer now ranks sixth in all of Division III, averaging 23.1 points per contest on the year.
