(Wayne, NE) Cody Diehl of Wayne State College was named today the Northern Sun Conference Field Athlete of the Week for Indoor Track and Field following his performance last weekend at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minnesota.

Diehl, a sophomore from Grand Island, Nebraska (Northwest HS), set a new WSC school record and achieved an NCAA provisional national qualifying mark by placing second with 4,723 points in the heptathlon at the Minnesota State Open. He currently ranks second in the NSIC and ninth in NCAA Division II in the event.

Wayne State will compete in a pair of meets this weekend as the Wildcats will be at the Husker Invite in Lincoln on Friday and Saturday and at the John Dalton Open at South Dakota on Saturday.
