(Wayne, NE) Savannah Wakeley of Wayne State College was selected today as the Northern Sun Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for Indoor Track and Field following her performance at last weekend's Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minnesota.

The freshman from Wausa, Nebraska won the high jump with a season-best mark of 5' 7", good for an NCAA provisional national qualifying mark. It was Wakeley's second win the season in the high jump and she is now tied for fifth place in NCAA Division II with her winning mark in Mankato last weekend.

Wayne State will compete in two meets this weekend as the Wildcats will participate in the Husker Invite in Lincoln on Friday and Saturday and at the John Dalton Open at the University of South Dakota on Saturday.
