(Sioux City, IA) When we're young and we see a losing program, we idealistically think we can change losers into winners. Always wondered about that, and I have my own ideas on why there's losing and winning programs and what makes up both.

(SSA) - After watching three sub-state games in one night (Oct. 28, 2009), I want to beseech the mighty and all-everything guys at the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) to please, please open up the high school football playoffs to ALL teams instead of the one year old, revamped, new, playoff picture that allows not just the best two teams from each district in the state to proceed into playoffs, but now four (count ‘em FOUR) from each district play in the holiest of holy football playoffs.

(SSA) – For the past year I have been assigned the task of writing a pretty special section each month in the Siouxland Sports Authority. It is a section that is sponsored by CNOS and each month Kevin Negaard, Chief Clinical Officer of CNOS, gives me a lead and I write the story.

(SSA) - While in the military, I was required to attend a two week commander’s course at Little Rock, Arkansas. It was a good thing because I was made aware of the Army’s position on ethical, moral, and social standards of conduct. In other words, the do’s and don’ts of being a unit or company commander.
