2010 SSA All American: Chad Ryan, Sioux City North
Written by Andy Osborne
(Sioux City, IA) – Saturday, February 20th 2010 will be a date that Sioux City North Junior Wrestler will not soon forget. While a trip to Des Moines for the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament was nothing new, this trip signified the culmination of three hard year’s worth of work. It was on that night in our state capital’s grandest venue, Wells Fargo Arena, which Chad Ryan became North’s second State Wrestling Champion. His success over a three year period is virtually unmatched and certainly worthy of Siouxland Sports Authority All-American status.
(Sioux City, IA) – Some people are just born to run. Take Forrest Gump for instance; here was a guy who just loved running. Anytime he went anywhere he was running. The same could be said for Chelsie and Ashlie Stokes, two girls constantly on the go. One (Chelsie) has parlayed her penchant for running into a soccer scholarship at Loyola University of Chicago. Ashlie was well on her way to joining her older sister at the Division I level until a mysterious injury surfaced and derailed her junior year. The very same injury that sidetracked Chelsie the previous spring and cost her an opportunity to compete for North High one final time.

(Sioux City, IA) – In a season that began on November 28 with a home matchup against IKM-Manning and ended in a re-match with Ames High in the State Championship game, the Sioux City North Stars rolled to a 25-1 record and recognition as the 2009 Siouxland Sports Authority All-American Team. No team in Siouxland exhibited the dominance on the hardwood that these girls did from the opening tip on the 28th of November to the final buzzer at Wells Fargo Arena on March 7th.

(SSA) – No player in the last five years has been more identifiable with baseball in Northwest Iowa than Dean McArdle. For those of you that have been living in a bunker for the better part of the last half decade Dean McArdle has done more in five years of varsity baseball at Sioux City North High School than most teams accomplished in that same time span. This season, the McArdle Express was nearly derailed.
