(Le Mars, IA)
– When you’re hitting .507, you’re doing something right, and Kayla Hatting of Le Mars-Gehlen is
doing just that. The daughter of Kirk and Patty Hatting, Kayla attributes her success to her father.
“I started out slow this season, but my
Dad worked with me on it [stance, swing and meeting the ball], and now it’s
working out pretty well,” Kayla said.
Comes this fall, she will be entering her senior year, and with it a
finale in volleyball, basketball and track.
Softball, however, is her favorite sport, one she hopes to carry on into
the collegiate level.

since T-ball days.
Watching the North Star shortstop on
defense, Alexa picks up both soft and hard grounders with apparent ease, and
she has a nice fluid motion on her throws.
